Years ago, the modular Tetra Shed took the design world by storm with its beautiful angular design. Today, the award-winning concept has been reborn as a full-scale hotel. Using David Ajasa-Adekunle’s original shed concept as a guide, Studio X designed the futuristic Tetra Hotel as a series of autonomous diamond-shaped timber pods set in a stunning landscape.
The hotel design builds on the award-winning Tetra Shed concept, which was unveiled in 2011. At the time, the shed was created to provide extra office space in the backyard or a garden. Now, the modular construction, which features foldout doors and windows, is going full scale as luxury living pods.
Expanding on the shed’s angular design, the hotel would be a cluster of timber structures with completely autonomous living spaces. Each accommodation would have multiple floors, with a winding staircase connecting an office, living area, and bedroom. The top floor would house the sleeping loft, which would feature a large bed and shower, flooded with natural light thanks to a massive diamond-shaped skylight. The multi-tiered floor plan is space and energy efficient, leaving as little carbon footprint as possible.
