Digital cameras are a part of many of our lives these days – they’re in our phones and computers, and film-loaded cameras are rapidly becoming obsolete. Unfortunately, digital cameras need to be constantly charged, and unless you have a solar charger that means plugging them into the mains. However Japanese company Superheadz are looking to change all that with their new hand-cranked “Sun & Cloud”, which is billed as the world’s first “self-generation” digital camera.
The ““Sun & Cloud”” is capable of shooting both videos and stills, and despite its retro design, it’s aiming to be the next big thing in digital photography. The camera can be charged using kinetic energy from a hand crank, and it’s also equipped with a solar panel. A USB port provides a third method of charging, so the camera can be used wherever you are without worrying about battery life.
Building on the current Instagram trend, the “Sun & Camera” comes with 15 built-in filters. The camera comes with a 3 mega pixel lens that has three different shooting modes – normal (150cm range), portrait (60 ~ 150cm range), and even macro (25 ~ 35cm range). It is also equipped with a high-powered LED light for night shots and a built-in mic so you can record sound in your videos as well.
